That may be technically true, but in reality we have 15 quality D-1 calibur players...2 over the limit.

Two of these players will not be Shockers next year...let the predictions begin.

@SHOXMVC: That is a statement of opinion, and not of fact.

From this perspective, NIT champs carries more weight than NCAA one-and-done.

My opinion is that my opinion is more than likely going to happen.

Curious if you are counting on Joe Mitchell as 15 or Ede @SHOXMVC:?

Almost positive that Mitchell is a walk-on.

My point isn't who is on scholarship and who isn't. My point is, on paper, next year's Shocker roster would scare the hell out of any opponent we play...however, is it realistic that this 15 player roster will stay the same come next October?

There is almost to much talent...with only 200 game minutes, the calibur of player on the roster shouts "I need more playing time" by more than one player. There is only one "for sure" RS candidate and that is Henry. So we are down to 14 battling for playing time.

On one hand I marvel at HCGM & staff's ability to recruit. On the other hand each player looks to be quality enough to believe he will need more playing time than is available to be happy...just sayin!!!

Yeah, MVC, your earlier post said 15..."two over the limit" If you weren't talking scholarships as you claim now, just what "limit" are you talking about? Is there a limit to the total number of inches in height that a single team cannot exceed? Or is it accumulated age? Oh yeah, 13 scholarships is two less than 15. Are you certain that's not what you're talking about?
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Marshall and staff are responsible for creating chemistry every year. Anyone that is unhappy can walk anytime, and on occastion, Marshall may have to cure a disease by removing it. I think that this has been one of his strengths as a coach. There has been little disharmony with his teams. Chemistry and harmony usually happen because of winning. Sit back and enjoy the ride (both ups and downs) and don't try to predict things that you can't.

The word is caliber, SHOXMVC. Nice of you to allow a few hours of celebration to occur before you start the next silly, reflexively negative "what can we worry about now?" discussion.

Here's my prediction. Mitchell will be a walk-on, will play however much time is available, and will be happy to be back eating his Mom's cooking. One of the other 14 will be covered by something other than an athletic scholarship -- maybe his or his parents' money, maybe an academic scholarship; who knows? Of the new guys, Uwadiae and Green will redshirt, bringing the number of active players down to 13 including Mitchell, and that's assuming Hawkins qualifies and nobody gets hurt.

We know Marshall believes he can keep 12 adequately occupied, because that's apparently what he's planning to do this year. He's probably counting on a lot of winning, which is a great source of consolation, to help him out. So to quote a familiar source, I'm not worried. The one guy who decided he didn't want to be here has already stepped foward this year; next year that won't happen.

Here's my prediction. Mitchell will be a walk-on, will play however much time is EARNED, and will be happy to be back eating his Mom's cooking. Easy there im4wsu. Don't cramp that conspiracy thinking brain of yours. I'll get my big chief tablet and crayons out for you and go slow. We have, seemingly, 15 quality D-1 players. You're trying to force a "magic bullet" conspiracy theory here. Whether Joe Mitchell is on scholarship or not is immaterial. Show me another D-1 school with a "walk-on" the caliber (thanks for the correction WSUwatcher) of Mitchell. He was, I think, a third-team Juco AA last year. If there was a scientific talent formula to grade a college basketball team from 1-15, WSU would rank very high IMO.

With that being said, there are only 200 minutes available in any given game. I am simply saying it would be very unique if all 15, minus a RS or two I'm sure, would be 100% happy and bought in. It is inevitable IMO that a player or two that we have been raving about is not willing to buy in to such fractured minutes. I would be very surprised if our 15 man roster (16 including walk-on Vautravers) looked like it does come next October.
